HEAVENLY TREASURES'
INSPIRATIONS
September-October 2008
Heavenly Treasures is closed Sept 1 for Labor Day.
RUN FOR THE BORDER will be a new regional shop hop being held Oct. 11-18. 3 shops in Kansas and 4 in Nebraska want you to take some time and do a little hopping across the border. 236 miles to hit 7 shops and possibly win a $50 gift certificate to each of those shops or $25 to each shop. Each shop will have an instore drawing, a mini quilt made with Blank fabric's Inspiration fabric dedicated to Ovarian Cancer, and a quick Christmas idea for you for under $20 per kit. You will get a free project pattern at each shop. You may pick up your passport booklet at any of the shop's beginning on Oct. 11. You will need to have the back page stamped at each of the shops you visit and you must visit all 7 to be in the drawings for the grand prizes. You will turn in that last page at your last stop and we will get together on October 20 and draw our winners. Participating shops are Needles I and Fabric Fairie in Auburn, Ne, Common Threads in Syracuse, Ne, Heavenly Treasures in Pawnee City, Ne, Quilting on the Square in Holton, Ks, Sunflower Quilt Shop in Hiawatha, Ks and The Quilt Basket in Seneca, Ks. These are all great shops with all different ideas and I know this would be a fun day to spend with your quilting friends. Call or come in if you have any questions.
All of the clothing, housewares and toys are 50% off for closeout. All of the spices are in this sale so stock up now. Help me get this area cleared out so we can set up an enjoyable classroom area at Heavenly Treasures and get some bargains at the same time. Flat folded fabrics are $2/yard also.
HEAVENLY TREASURES IS A MARTINGALE PUBLISHING SUPER STITCHER MEMBER! We have joined an award program for purchase of Patchwork Place and Martingale quilting books. We automatically get a few new ones each month and when you purchase one we will give you a card for the Super Stitcher Award Program. Once you have purchased 9 of their books, you can send in the card and get one free. You can use the same card at any store that is a member of the program
5th Saturday is August 30, 2008 to use your shop hop bag and get 20% off. Open until 5pm for this special day.
2008 BLOCK OF THE MONTH will have "Plum Crazy" for September and "On Edge" for October. Come get your complimentary fabrics to make these great blocks, if you can focus long enough!
The end of October Pat and I are going to the International Quilt Market in Houston. I've not been to this event before but am told its quite overwhelming. Looking forward to seeing all the new things in the industry.
NEW FABRICS: LOTS AND LOTS IS ALL I CAN SAY! ONE DAY WE GOT 42 NEW BOLTS OF BLANK FABRICS IN! We have a great baby flannel panel, more new Christmas, Laurel Burch, and some new layer cakes for fall. Layer cakes are precut 10 inch squares from a line of fabric. We have 11 new Kansas Troubles by Moda called Wildflower Serenade and lots of new moda jelly rolls. We also got lots of new fleece for fall.
NEW BOOKS AND PATTERNS: We have some new items on display from our new books and patterns. Come and check them out!
NEW CLASSES: Register early since our space is limited. Pat Kanel will be teaching a very easy baby flannel quilt class on Sept. 6 from 10-3. Come check out the Cozy flannel Baby quilt and sign up for this class. Class fee is $10 with lunch included. Pattern is extra and required. Pat is also going to teach the "Triple fun Totes" class on October 4 from 10-3. Check out our sample and you'll need several of these for Christmas gifts. $10 class fee plus pattern and fabric. Lunch will be provided. November 1 I will be teaching a "Jacob's Jazz" table runner class. Come see my red sample with some of our newest fabrics and learn to make something that looks hard but is easy for someone's personalized Christmas gift. $10 class fee plus pattern and fabric. November 8 we will have a teacher from Fairbury, Tami Schmidt, teaching crazy quilting. You will make a pillow top and, if there's time, a Christmas ornament. Learn some fancy stitches and have some fun. We will need a minimum of 4 for this class. $30 will cover everything you'll need except your machine to bring with you. November 15 we will do two sessions of an easy tie pillow taught by Pat. $10 class fee and two 1/2 yard pieces of fabric and a 14" pillow form will make this cute pillow. Choose the 10-12 slot or the 1-3 class.
I'm planning a fun event for my 4th Anniversary Oct 1-10. I will be hosting a Thimbleberries trunk show with quilts they have made and will send for us to display at Heavenly Treasures and have the books available for you to make these wonderful projects. Put this on your calendar for Oct 1 along with drawings and lots of fun.
CRUISE WITH ME! We still have space on the Norwegian Spirit cruise ship departing New Orleans January 25, 2009. This sailing has two days at sea for us to sew, sew and sew some more. We will see ports of Mexico, Belize, Cozumel and Guatamala. We're going to offer 5 seminars with different projects including a picture bag, quilt n tote, fractured stars, table runner, and quilt in a cup. Five different teachers will be giving instructions. Pick up or call and we'll send you a brochure giving you all the details.
THIMBLEBERRIES WILL HAVE THEIR SEPT MEETING ON SEPT 24 AND THE OCT MEETING ON THE 29TH. The afternoon group is at 1:30 and the evening group at 6:30. We will be having our charm camp on September 20 from 10am to 4pm. Just need to know if you're coming so I can have enough lunch.
November 26 is "Tie one on day". Get your mind out of the bar and come and make an apron to celebrate on Nov. 22 from 10am to 4pm at Heavenly Treasures. We have patterns and panels to make aprons. Use the apron as the wrapping for a wonderful homemade baked gift to give to someone or just pass it on to someone with a note of encouragement. We have lots of apron patterns and you might be able to get more than one finished if you try. Bake up a nice loaf of banana bread and make someone's day! Just reserve your space, get fabric and pattern and come for fun.
You'll have to print out the free item page at www.heavenlytreasurespc.com to to get a free item.
Keep up the project Linus blankets. Always glad to pass on those donations to a great cause.
